Time for a guest post!!! Today, we have Erica from one of my very favorite blogs, Moth Design . When I first started reading blogs, hers was one of the first I fell in love with. Her house is absolutely stunning and I am so excited to share little tidbits of it with you today! And… just a fun little fact I only learned this weekend, Erica used to work with Sarah Richardson! How fun!?
Favorite Room I realized I’m rather lucky to have several rooms that I love in my home. However, to narrow it down, my outdoor house is my favorite. I love the way the cedar ceiling gently scents the space and the bit of respite the room provides away from my 5 boys. It’s a little cottage retreat in my own yard… of course I love it! Favorite Textile This image sums up a balance of what I like best… grass cloth, highly textural, combined with the softest of soft textiles, sateen sheets and a yummy woolen area rug underfoot. Perfection! (note: this is not Erica’s room, just embodies her favorite textiles)
Favorite Piece of Furniture
This chair takes it’s place in the corner of my bedroom by the fireplace.
It’s become a cherished place to curl up and read on quiet, cold winter evenings.
Favorite Artwork Some of the art I love best is by Canadian artist, Sharon Barr, who’s work is available at Canvas Gallery. Canvas is by far my very favorite place in the world to purchase art. Their collection is phenomenal, the staff are amazing AND they ship! (find them here) At 72″ x 36″, this is a larger scale work titled Magnolia. I love the feeling it evokes of freshness and spring with just the right balance of contrast in the darker branches. I also love that this piece has an entirely different feel from the other pieces of hers that I own.
Favorite Object My favorite object was again a toss up; I have many silly little treasures, but I always come back to this polished nickel moroccan lantern. I bought this on a trip to Atlanta, Georgia and had to convince the staff to sell it to me as it was installed. I absolutely love the way it throws fragments of light around the foyer in the evening.
