Favorite Room
14 months ago my husband Tyler and I bought a 90-year-old Craftsman bungalow and we’ve been renovating it one room at a time since closing. Thus far my favorite transformation has been in the guest room! We  outfitted the space with custom wainscoting, an innovative double doorway and crown moulding. We also installed new maple hardwood flooring and ran electric for the Good Earth ceiling pendant I picked up at Lowes.

Favorite Textile
Urban Outfitters recently jumped on the chevron bandwagon and created the quintessential chevron bedding collection. I’m in the love with the grey zigzag duvet cover and shams. They’re especially meaningful because we received them from my Mom at my bridal shower.

Favorite Piece of Art & Furniture
My favorite piece of artwork is both great to look at and sentimental. As a wedding gift my maid of honor/best friend/graphic designer, Ferris Caldwell, screen-printed a custom romantic poster for us. Not only does it say ‘True Love’ but the T and R are separated by an ampersand meaning ‘Tyler & Rachel’. And my favorite piece of furniture is also stylish and sentimental. The aqua plastic shell chair was my Grandmother’s sewing chair and every time I look at it I think of her!

Favorite Miscellaneous Item
As much as I love the starburst mirror, plant stand, rattan headboard and Anthropologie switch-plate cover, my favorite miscellaneous item is the double doorway. My husband Tyler designed and installed all of the custom moulding surrounding the Craftsman five-panel doors. Architectural details are just as, or more important than decor!

Oh and PS today I am over at Three Pink Dots sharing whats in my bag!

Your Favorites: Tartan and Sequins

Woohoo, we are returning to our Tuesday series of, “Your favorites”. Today I have Julia, from Tartan and Sequins sharing her favorites from her beautiful home!

Favorite Room
My living room is my favorite room because it’s bright and balanced. I went through a variety of plans with my boyfriend prior to moving in and this worked best for the both of us. The style is traditional with what I’d like to think is a touch of southern charm. Plus I got to sneak in a little pink so that makes me a happy camper.

Favorite Textile:
My favorite textile is actually these pillow covers that I bought off Etsy. Early in my Pinterest days, I came across the pattern and saved it knowing I wanted to do something with it someday. After my boyfriend and I decided to move in together, I designed the entire living room based off the pattern. I just love the vibrant colors and beautiful print.
Favorite Piece of Art:
My favorite piece of art is this Inslee print I just received from my blogging partner Allison. One of our very first and most successful posts was about bracelets. Allison bought me this print as a congratulatory gift. I have it hung next to my bed as a reminder that you can do anything you put your mind to.

Favorite Piece of Furniture:
My favorite piece of furniture is my coffee table. It’s a Craigslist find from several years ago and I’ve held onto it. Its actually very well made and solid wood so its indestructible- which a coffee table should be. Also, I like how the rustic style of the table contrasts with some of my more modern and traditional pieces. It’s all about balance.
Favorite Miscellaneous Item:
My favorite miscellaneous item would have to be my faux set of antlers. I bought them for my mom years ago but after she remodeled her home, they no longer worked. I like them because they balance out the more feminine touches like the pillows in our living room

Isn’t her place perfectly happy? I love the meaning behind that gorgeous print. So sweet. And so true.
