Wedding Wednesday

First, I want to say my most humongous thank you to every. single. one. of you. Seriously, your comments yesterday about my project brought tears to my eyes. You are the most amazing, supportive, encouraging people I have ever had the privilege of “knowing”.
And to answer the most commonly asked question, the chevron wall is was hand-painted. Wow right?? If you want the info for an amazing decorative painter in the Chicago area, let me know!
Ok. On to weddings. Because its
If you follow me on Twitter you may have already seen, but I found and tried on (and fit into) my mom’s wedding dress from 1983.
Someone driving past thought I was a real bride and pulled over to say congratulations. How kind of them to pretend I didn’t look like the most horrifying bride on the planet. No make up. Hair in a nest. And THIS headpiece.
Spencer even posed with me. And his toy helicopter.
And PS aren’t I a very generous blogger for making myself look like such an idiot and sharing this picture with you?? I care very much about the enjoyment of your Wedding Wednesdays.

Now. Real dresses. I just made my first appointment to go to look at dresses for next week! The dress shopping is the most important part for me, I’m not going to lie. Luckily, I already know exactly what style I want (because its what I like, but even more importantly because its most flattering for me).

Which style is your favorite?

And, for anyone wondering, none of the dresses shown are dresses I am personally considering. Those are secrets!

  1. I love the ball gown and empire styles…I think my butt is too big for a mermaid look! Tea length would be cute, but I want a long gown. haha this was fun to dream about my future dress. Thanks for posting! :)

  2. I’m ALL about the ball gown… but i also love the empire. I guess I will know better when it time to try them on! Love that you shared that pic! Made me smile!

  3. I LOVE the lace mermaid, but the tea length ones are so fun too! I cannot wait for you to start trying on dresses… you’re going to have the best time ever!! xoxoxo

  4. You are going to make a gorgeous bride! I’m loving the top right one best. The short ones are cute too, but those look more like dresses for the party than one to where during the ceremony. Of course just personal preference! :)

  5. When trying on, I really thought a mermaid dress wasn’t for me … but I ended up choosing a mermaid/trumpet style gown! I knew I wanted lots of a lace and a vintage, romantic look. Check out my blog’s recent wedding posts to see what I ended up with!

  6. Oh my god… that pic of you + Spence is perfect! I love that the helicopter was in the pic!! So excited for you that wedding dress shopping is right around the corner!!

  7. I have to say, when I tried on dresses, I knew it was one of two…and couldn’t decide. I felt like dress A was the one, but dress B was what I had in my head before I started shopping. My mom and I grabbed lunch, and a drink, I went back and easily chose A.
It was a mermaid cut, very simple details and raw silk, and it just felt good.
Best thing I learned: go with what you feel and HAVE FUN (and maybe a glass of champagne.)

  8. I love a good mermaid dress (my own dress was fitted throughout the length of it though), but that first empire dress is effing gorgeous! I would so make that mine if I were getting married again.

  9. Oh my goodness – thanks for sharing that image of you in your moms dress! So so funny!! So many pretty dress choices! And can I just say WOW about that bathroom makeover?! Holy cow, girl!

  10. Love that you fit perfectly in your mom’s wedding dress. I actually wore my mom’s wedding dress while we were getting ready in the morning and it fit me perfectly. She married in the 70′s so it was a cute white strapless maxi. Perhaps you can refashion your mom’s dress into something?!?!

    I was a ball gown girl. :)
