Wedding Wednesday

Hi all, today we have Lara from Simply Irresistible guest posting for our Wedding Wednesday. If you haven’t visited Lara’s blog yet, you really should. The girl is an amazing chef, with an amazing sense of style! Go hurry over there! And today, she has a very special collection of “details” for us.

I’m so excited to be here for a Wedding Wednesday guest post. I’m absolutely positive that Alex’s wedding is going to be beyond fabulous – with her sense of style it’s really impossible for it to be anything but. I’m also in the midst of planning my own wedding (less than 9 months away, ah!!) and it has been nothing but fun. When it comes to wedding planning, the focus is normally on the big decisions (naturally). So much importance is placed on the dress, the invitations, the photographer, the music, the food, the venue (again, naturally). With that being said, it’s so important to invest a little time and put a bit of thought behind the little things that go into the day. Small personal touches can make such a big difference. Here are a few little things that I’ve been thinking about for our wedding.

cake toppers
the addition of the dog to the modern wood models is adorable, and how fabulous is that succulent topped cake?
table numbers
in love with the DIY painted jars and the uniqueness of the old books
wedding favors

favors can get tacky (quickly) but not here. i’m a sucker for food related items anywhere, anytime.
seating cards
this is a great place to tie in your theme for the evening and have fun with it.

What special touches did you put into your wedding day? I’d love to hear. Thanks for having me, Alex!

  2. Im sure you know I got married in vegas so I didnt do any of this fun stuff – love living vicariously each week!!! One thing I woudl make sure to have had is at the hotel, a gift bag at check-in – such a special touch to make a guest feel welcome in your city – and fill it with things they may have overlooked – gum, bandaids, asprin, treats!

  3. Our cake topper was made to look like our wedding flowers, my friend designed our table numbers and stationary. Oh and our sign in sheet was designed by a friend as well and made to look like an oversized wedding certificate and all the signatures were guests under “witnesses.” :)

  4. Great ideas! We had old family wedding photos displayed at our reception venue. Each one was labeled with the couple’s name and date of marriage. I thought it was a nice way to incorporate those that are no longer with us – like my grandparents. :)

  5. Love all of these Lara! It’s the little things that make a wedding so fabulous and that people remember for years.

We love to travel so we named our tables after places we’ve visited and had a photo of us at that location on the table. Also we had a cookie table for our favors and we had a cookie that represented my Greek heritage and a cookie that was from J’s Norwegian background and then had our cookie recipe that we make every holiday season.

  6. One of my favorite things about planning my wedding was all the details. I collected dandelions a put them each in separate cute jars so that each guest could make a wedding wish for us =). I love all the ideas above
