Here’s the thing. There is nothing more perfect than a chandelier over a dining room table. Light fixtures are truly my weakness. Sadly, my dining space is definitely not the ideal space for one such chandy. Instead of trying to make this decision with the boy (worst sounding board ever when it comes to lighting), I am taking it to you dearest readers.
So here it is…. my dining space. I live in a completely open plan apartment. Kitchen, dining and living is all one big momma room.
A light fixture above the table could do one of two things:
1. help define the space
2. be totally floaty and weird
Why is it that I have so much difficulty with my own space and not anyone elses? Hmmm. Designer’s problem for sure. Anyways, I have to be careful with the light fixture I choose (if I choose one) because I wouldn’t want it to block my painting. So this definitely limits my choices.
I think option B! It goes more with the contemporary feel of the room.

B – it’s simple enough that it won’t clash w/ the painting, but still not your standard “chandy”. plus, B is my fave letter

I think it’s harder to choose things for your own space because a. you are the one paying and b. you will likely be living with it for some time to come. For higher ticket items I usually go for more classic looks, in this case, option A is the least trendy, IMO. But it’s not my home and all three looks are fabulous. (I’m no help, am I?)
I would go for A. Defining the space in an open floor plan is very important to me. I say chandelier all the way!
Loving A. I had a similar issue in our last apartment. I definitely like have different “spaces” and a chandelier was a perfect way to achieve that.
Option B all the way…it’s amazing!
Tough decision, but definitely option B. It so beautiful and unique.
I say opt. A it will leave the space more open and define the space
I have the exact same problem in my home. I have been trying to decide on lighting for my dining since we moved in.

I am liking A personally but both are pretty and unique.
I’d hate to see a fixture block that painting. With that said, I think you can find a beautiful light that will work. I like B!

Even though you know I love B, I’m going for A in your case. I think it’s gorgeous and totally echoes the feeling of your Tally- the hanging crystals kind if mirror the loops in the painting. Also, I think it would do a better job at not blocking the painting since there is open space between the hanging loops. Option B would allow no vieiwing through it, if that makes sense. You could hang it higher to avoide the blockage issue but I kind of hate when chandy’s are too high. So my vote is definitely for A- it’s got a classic shape but is completely modern because of the round lightbulbs etc. Love.

I LOVE option B… However I think that something more rectangular and less solid might be a better option… Here are 2 other options, not to confuse you even more.

i am fully in love with A. special, but not distracting and definitely a classic that will look just as amazing 20 years from now

I thought B at first, but nope – go with A. A looks gorgeous in your space – you already have a modern feel and the fixture is a hint of classic, but the upper part brings in the mod/contemporary. It looks amazing and shows your artwork behind, too. Gorgeous!!

I have to say option A – it really makes the area look unique and perhaps you would hang it a little higher in actuality and it wouldn’t really end up blocking your painting? Love it! What a cool finds!
