i have never used rent the runway but i have a couple events coming up this fall and don’t feel like putting in the money to buy dresses. so this seems like a great option.
here are some of my favorites:
wedding: green, one shoulder, thread social retails for $550, rents for $75.
blacktie: navy, floor length Catherine Malandrino, retails for $1095, rent for $150.
i don’t have an event for this, but i need it because i’ve loved it ever since i first spotted in ok! mag… swoon. coral Matthew Williamson, retails for $2500, rent for $250.
has anyone ever used it before? do the dresses come smelling like old beer and day old sweat? detailed experiences appreciated.
the middle one is perfect for the opera gala you’re going to!!! except i still say run with the hook up your gma offered.
i just ordered that colorful tibi dress on RTR for that wedding i have in a few weeks… nervous abt it.

Ahhh that Catherine Malandrino dress is SO gorgeous.. I’d prob do it for $150! I haven’t used their services before, but let me know how it goes!
I rented the thread social dress for an event this summer, and while it was very pretty (loved the color!), it just did not fit me well. I felt the skirt was too full, but that’s just my preference.
As for RTR, they work great for my lifestyle because I have way too many cocktail and black tie events for work in DC. I love wearing different dresses, but I was starting to freak out at how much I was spending on them, so found this helpful alternative. It’s a good service – have not had any problems yet. Best part is you don’t have to dry clean them before you return. Just throw it in the mail. Note: have a backup dress just in case.
oh thanks for all the advice everyone! sadly the incredible catherine malandrino one that i wanted is rented for the weekend i need it. but the next event i have, ill be all over this.
