Memory Lane

Well this week I am feeling really nostalgic, and a little sad if I am being really honest here. My mom’s house, which we lived in for 9 years went on the market this week. My mom recently moved to the city and although we all held on tight to this house, it was ready to move on. None of us live at home anymore, and my mom is loving city life.
Isn’t she a pretty little gem?
But the real reason I am sharing pictures of the house is because I think my mom has the most unbelievable taste and vision of any person I’ve ever known. Best part, shes a therapist, not even a designer. This woman has vision any designer could only dream of.
She bought this house and my sisters and I hated it. It was awkward and uncomfortable, but she knew it was something special. So after a little bit of construction and a major surface makeover. She made it incredible.
Not only does she have vision, she has timeless vision.

The most flawlessly gorgeous kitchen. I wish I had a close up of those pendants!

And finally… the bedroom I grew up in.
I wish I had taken pictures before the house went on the market because we moved out a ton of the furniture to my mom’s place downtown, so this shows the house “staged”, but it still gives an idea of what a special house it is.

  1. hi again, i was going to email you, but can’t find a link to email. would you mind telling me where this house is? or point me in the direction of a listing link?

we have two small children and are at that crucial point where we either stay in the city or hike it out to the “subs” as my kids call the burbs. anyway, it’s all going to depend on if i can find the perfect house and this house looks pretty and perfect to me.

you could email me through my blog if that’s easy for you.

ps found your blog today through cornflakes dream and am loving it.

  2. It is bittersweet when you see the house you grew up in being sold. I still drive by the home I grew up in once in a while to see what changes the new owners have made.

I hope that the move has made your mom happy, that’s the most important thing.

  3. Lovely! While I’m sure it’s difficult to say goodbye, it seems as though the house will be lovingly cared-for by its future owners. And obviously, style runs in your family…the home is lovely!

  4. That house is beyond lovely- the outside facade is so so pretty and completely the type of house I would LOVE to own. Your mom has gorgeous style and I can definitely see where you get it from- thanks for sharing a little piece of you sweetie! xo
