Inspiration from Inspiration

This weekend I finally decided to get some work done around my house. One project I’ve been wanting to get done ever since we moved in, was to build a little inspiration wall at my desk. As much as I hate to admit it, my built in desk has been a storage area up until now. So this weekend I got motivated, cleaned it all off, installed cork tiles and finally hung up all of my favorite magazine pages, fabric swatches and photographs.
So happy to be able to sit there, get some work done and have beautiful things to stare at while I do it! Here is my desk now:

So happy with the way it turned out! If I had really taken the time it would’ve been nice to cover the cork in a pretty fabric before tacking things in, but really… my intention is to cover every square inch of it anyways.

And here are some other beautiful inspiration boards around the interwebs:

  1. I absolutely love this post! Inspiration boards are phenominal. An ode to the days before my laptop was bogged down with folders of images, meaningless names, stored favorites. I think this is such a great reminder to get back to them. I haven’t had one since I moved. Aren’t they the best when your working? When you need a moment to drift off for a minute… there is something so encouraging about taking a moment to absorb some beautiful things. Love this…

  2. Love what you did with the desk space! I’ve been meaning to get around to creating an inspiration space and this post might finally give me the kick I need to do so. Also love the sleeping puppy picture, so adorable!

  3. I love that you did this AND that I saw this post! This is so needed for me today! I have a pile of pics, tear sheets, postcards, and things that inspire me and have a blank wall with a single print above my desk. It is pretty…. boring.
I am going to take care of this this afternoon! Perfect day for a project!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

  4. Hi Alex! I’m so glad you “found” me because it helped me to find you!! Aren’t inspiration boards great! I really need to find a space for an inspiration board in this itty bitty apartment of mine and get the creative juices flowing. Love the inspiration photos. :)

  5. Your desk area looks soooooo good! Congrats on the MBG house feature today, too!

I’m having trouble getting motivated to finish some projects, one being an inspiration board, and this was definitely the boost I needed. LOVE Amber’s big ass board!

    turn up the rad
