Skin Care

skin care

I don’t like self maintenance. Its just never been a strong suit of mine. My gray roots are always showing, my eyebrows grow into one singular eye brown more often that I care to admit, I get manicures when there is nothing left for me to chip off myself, and I use the most basic skin care regimen possible: cetaphil face wash/moisturizer. Its bad I know. So lately I’ve been trying to step up my game a little bit. The first big step for me was admitting how dull my skin has been looking. I got a facial before my wedding and I couldn’t believe the difference it made, but it also made me realize how wrinkled my skin has gotten. So while I’ve made a commitment to get two facials a year (still probably not enough) I have also changed my moisturizer to an anti-aging one that my mom swears by.

Prevage.

It’s been life changing. Honestly, I never believed in this stuff. I figured it was Cetaphil or Botox and anything between was just a crock. Turns out that couldn’t have been more false. They aren’t paying me for this (although they should), I just want to share my experience with Prevage because I wish I had started using this stuff years ago! It has completely changed my skin in a matter of weeks. My forehead creases are almost completely gone. I noticed a HUGE difference within the first week. I have been using both the day and night creams and let me tell you, it is the best money I’ve spent. Its expensive, I’m not going to lie, but if you are looking for a nonsurgical solution to aging, dull and/or wrinkled skin, this stuff works.. at the very least it did for me.

AKD Progress: My House

I’m finally making some serious progress at our house. I am absolutely my own worst client. A nightmare. I cannot make decisions. I am reupholstering chairs and changed my mind on the fabric at least 5 times. But there has finally been some serious progress.

I found these kilim and chrome benches at a local vintage shop and immediately fell in love. They are perfect for my living room.

I also looked through a bunch of options of carpet for our stairs. This has been something I’ve been putting it off forever but I finally found the perfect option. Its one of these three…

I also did a little restyling and rearranging for our bookshelves but I’m not sure that will ever stop

I also hung some art. That is always the final step to really making a space feel complete. My little Picasso lady and Sally King Benedict look so perfect stacked together. I also love the way the curtains frame the art.

And although not much has changed in there, I am still so smitten with our powder room Lindsay Cowles paper.

I can’t wait to share more of the completed space. The rug, newly upholstered chairs, pillows and console are all going to be here within the next couple weeks. Serious living room progress.
