Over vacation I read three really great books and since I am always looking for new books to read, I wanted to share
The story of the Johnson & Johnson dynasty. They are insanely wealthy, but also pretty insane in general. Really entertaining and interesting.
A little bit slow, but such a sweet story of getting a second chance at love. Easy read.
I am a huge fan of Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell so I was really excited to read his new book. It was good (not as good as Outliers). But it makes you think. Offers a new perspective on things which I really enjoy.
What have you guys read recently that you liked?? I need some new recommendations.
Thanks so much for this. I am always looking for new books to read – and a conscious effort of mine to read less fluffy books!! Can’t wait to read the Crazy Rich one!
I really liked David & Goliath, but like you, not as much as Outliers. I’ll have to take a peek at the others! If you’re looking for something silly (read: Chelsea Handler-ish), I would recommend Everything Is Perfect When You’re a Liar by Kelly Oxford. Hilarious, if a bit crude. It’s old, but I’m also a huge fan of The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls.
You need to read the Husbands Secret. I just finished it, it was so good!!
Have you read Empty Mansions by Bill Dedman? If you liked Crazy Rich then you might enjoy that one too.
I wish I had some recommendations- I am definitely intrigued by Crazy Rich!
I finished “Out to Lunch” by Stacy Ballis over New Years. I loved it, it’s chick lit, clever & funny.
I second the rec on Kelly Oxford, I laughed out loud. Thanks for the recommendations, I requested them from the library.
I’m going to chat about it more on the blog some time soon, but in the same vein as Gladwell’s work, I think you’ll really like “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg. It’s a really fascinating look at how habits are formed and how we can change them (but approaches it more from a scientific way based on past studies). To give everything context, it provides lots of case studies, like how Febreeze became such a big brand. It’s super easy to read and so interesting! Definitely gives you a new perspective on your day to day (it has for me!).
totally agree on david & goliath – i thought the first 3/4 were fantastic and the last 1/4 was painful. but it made me think! I’m going to have to check out victoria’s recommendation above as well!
