I absolutely love having fires in the winter and in our new place, it was such a special treat to have a fireplace already in the master bedroom. Unfortunately, it was really ugly. The wall was a weird half wall, there was an outdated, not-very-well done surround and was just completely lack luster.

Small changes make a huge difference. We added a mantle, marble surround, removed the glass/brass doors and completed the wall (why was it like this to begin with?) and voila. An entirely new focal point in our new bedroom.
Such a huge transformation! I would LOVE to have a fireplace in our bedroom one day, I can’t imagine anything more cozy!
Such a 90′s aesthetic to have that little shelf…don’t you know that’s there to display your pretty silk flowers?!

It looks FANTASTIC now! I think that half-wall/shelf thing was there to probably put their TV on. Back in the days before pretty flat screens.

We have the same door – we painted the gold with high heat paint – or something similar named – in old rubbed brozed and stained the wood handles a darker color
