Wedding Wednesday

Last week, I got the idea from Ashley Nicole Catherine to start sharing little bits and pieces of wedding details as they were decided!
So today I am staring off by sharing with you…

We’ve said from day one how we wanted to get married in a tent. Turns out in the city of Chicago there aren’t that many spaces that have room for a 400 person tent, as well as an area for a 400 person ceremony outside. I started to think this tent thing would either have to be moved to the burbs, or not happen at all. Then one afternoon my fiance suggested Northerly Island.

Background:
Northerly Island used to be an old private airport in downtown Chicago. A couple of years ago, it was shut down and the entire runway was made into one big beautiful grassy prairie. The penninsula (not actually an island) is right on Lake Michigan with big sweeping views of the city skyline. Done and done. We walked on to the property and I think we both knew immediately. It was perfect. There is not one thing I would change.

So here it is… Northerly Island!

  1. Wow! So pretty. I also always dreamed of a tented reception– mine is now just 8 weeks away on a plantation in Charleston :) Your venue reminds me of a wedding I went to on Treasure Island in San Francisco– having a view of the city skyline will be amazing!!!!

  2. It’s beautiful and sounds absolutely perfect for what you want! Yay! I can’t wait to watch your details unfold throughout the next year; I love wedding planning! xoLisa
