Disappointment

I was discussing blogging with someone yesterday and we started talking about having a genuine voice. It is really important for me to be a real person here on Things That Sparkle. I am not going to use this as a platform to discuss politics or religion but I want to keep it real. And today, disappointment is on my mind. Not fashion shows, or living rooms or the newest fall trends. So here it is.
Part of life is disappointment, but that doesn’t mean I am good at dealing with it. I am not particularly competitive with other people, but competition with myself runs deep. So when I fail, or something disappointing happens, I hold a grudge against myself.
I don’t let it ruin my day, but its in the back of my head. Starting a business has been filled with so many amazing, exciting moments, but let’s be real, its also filled with some disappointments.
How do you get past life’s disappointments? I am putting my energy into focusing on my successes and not my failures because at the end of the day positivity pays off. I know it does.
There are exciting things in my future. Both personally and professionally. It is easy to forget that those are the times that I will shine, because in the moment, disappointment is an easy feeling to get distracted by.
So I am going to take this very wise man’s advice

Today I am saying, success should be celebrated. This doesn’t mean failure should be ignored, because its how we learn, but that’s all it is. A learning experience.

Wedding Wednesday

As my wedding gets closer and closer Wedding Wednesdays are becoming a bit more real! We’re about 7 weeks away now. Crazy!! Today I’d like to share some peeks of some recent details of my own wedding.

It is REAL. We have waited 14 months (or actually maybe more like 9.5 years… but whose counting) and now its getting close. Seriously close. And I cannot wait.
