I have really high ceilings in my own kitchen, which I love, but when it came to cabinetry it was a bit tricky. I had a soffet built to a. save money on cabinetry and b. heating and air ducts needed to be hidden on one of the walls, so I wouldn't have been able to go all the way up with the cabinets on every wall (which would have looked odd). I also had glass paneled cabinets installed next to my range without muntins to make cleanup easier. They are super easy to care for if they get dirty, which is not very often. You can see a pic here: http://dicorciadesign.com/the-bungalow-where-it-all-started/

You could do a thin pull out for spices on each side of the range (see link attached) filled with cooking essentials and have your glass front cabinets displaying pretty plates, etc. You could even make these slide outs decorative so no one will even know they are there! Also this will move the glass cabinets a tad away from the range and avoid mess/grease.

(See third image down on the left hand side)
http://www.houzz.com/spice-cabinet/ls=4

I say do it. I mean - whether they are glass or not, you will still have to clean them if grease etc gets on them. I just looked at my cabinets next to my stove and they are pretty clean (and I NEVER wipe them down. For real).

We have glass front cabinets but they are on the opposite wall from the stove and let's be honest, I only boil water on that thing. I say go for the glass front cabinets. It's glass so it won't be that hard to clean and it looks so so pretty! But, that's just my opinion. xo
