Five Things

Last week, Chassity posted 31 things you didn’t know about her for her 31st birthday and I loved it. First of all, I couldn’t believe how similar we are but I also loved learning more about one of my favorite people. Then, Victoria tagged me in her “Five Things” post. Another favorite blogger that I had the opportunity to learn more about. Fate right? So today I’m doing a combination of both.

ONE. I applied to 19 different colleges. Yup, 19. I’m crazy. I had no idea where I wanted to go. And if I’m being really honest, one of the only reasons I ended up at University of Colorado was because Spencer was two hours away.

TWO. Here’s a personal one. I’ve had two breast reductions. I won’t go into details, but lets just say it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. It was truly life changing. I was lucky enough to have the support system who helped me to find the body I was always meant to have.

THREE. I have A LOT of siblings. Let’s count. Two sisters. Two half brothers. Two step brothers. One step sister. Three brothers in law. And two sisters in law. Yup.

My two sisters. I’m on the right. Rocking the uni brow.

FOUR. I got my Mouse my junior year in college even though everyone told me it was a mistake. I felt and still feel, a house isn’t a home without a dog in it. And yes, it probably was a mistake, but the best mistake. I loved dogs growing up, but I never know how much more I would love a dog that I raised from puppy hood. He brings so much love to our lives. Yeah I’m a sap.

FIVE. I have some really awful eating habits. Carbs, carbs and more carbs. I am not a huge protein/meat fan. Absolutely no red meat, a little turkey/chicken, no pork (unless its bacon or sausage), and a little bit of fish. Love vegetables and as I’ve gotten older I’ve gotten much better about integrating them into my carb fests, but I still prefer to eat like a toddler. Pasta, pizza, grilled cheese and I’m happy. Gross huh?

And the way the whole “Five Things” post works is now I have to tag five people to share their five things. So here we go… Liz, Nicole, Bradley, Jessie, and Naomi.

  1. awww baby mouse. i completely agree with you on a house not being a home without a dog. and i have the same eating habits. it’s the joke at work that i’m the grown up 5 year old. anything with carbs and cheese is the best.

  2. Thanks for sharing — especially your food confession. I have a similar confession: I am the exact same way! Definitely starting to love veggies as I get older, but very little meat, and carbs for days! Hey, you only live once right? :)

  3. I’ve really enjoyed this series and reading all the bloggers’ responses. Like you, I got a puppy my junior year of college, a few weeks before finals and while working 30 hours a week at an internship. Was it stupid and poorly timed? Yeah, probably. But was having that smiling face to come home to what kept my batteries charged and spirits up? Absolutely. Dogs are really the best and are our kids :) and amen to eating like a toddler! I’m a huge fan of Kraft Mac.

  4. Thanks for sharing all of this Alex! I am the opposite of you on the breast reduction…well I don’t have implants but I seriously would love them bc I have like inverted boobs. haha! Baby Mouse!!!! And seriously all I eat is pasta, bread, pizza and cheese!! Horrible!!! When you come to Dallas can we just eat pizza the whole time?? xoxo

  5. My sister had a breast reduction about five years ago. Said it’s been one of the best things she’s done. While me, on the other hand, was part of the ittie bittie tittie committee.

    Carb nation over here too.

  6. Soul Sistas right here… We are the two oldest of NINE kids. There are some “half” siblings in there but we never think of them like that. People’s jaws drop every. single. time. we tell them. I got my lab puppy senior year of college and heard the same thing that it was a mistake and an apartment is no place for a puppy. I can convince anyone who asks me to get a puppy – there’s never a perfect time, just gotta do it.
Word on the street is you’re coming to Dallas next month?!

    xx! sally

  7. Haha all I eat is basically carbs. All my friends make fun of me since I don’t eat meat and I have weird fish allergies so my go to food dish is always a carb.

  8. Great post! I appreciate your honesty; I had a breast reduction my last year of college and agree it is one of the best things I have ever done. It is still not something I really talk about so I admire you for putting it out here.
