Ceremony

Our ceremony was the most special experience of my life to date. Spencer’s very close friend since childhood married us. He is actor, a comedian and now an officiant of the Universal Life Church. He told our love story in a way that taught our guests the people we are when we are apart, as well as the people we are together. I can’t put into words how special it was to have him there marrying us. We laughed and we cried. Just like we wanted it. It was perfect. It was us. I tear up every time I think about standing up there.
Our ceremony was supposed to be outside, overlooking the lake and the city skyline. But the morning of our wedding, we woke up to freezing temperatures. It was a beautiful sunny day but an outside ceremony was just not an option. I’ll be honest. I was upset. Really upset. We had chosen our venue because of the incredible views and now we’d be stuck in a tent. But the disappointment was momentary, my incredible wedding planner jumped on it and everything was moved inside. It was beautiful. Not what I had imagined, but beautiful. And at the end, I was Mrs. K. What more could I ever ask for?

After the kiss.

Our recessional. To “How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You”.

 And we’re Mr. and Mrs.!
PS I know my pictures are a little shoddy but I haven’t gotten the professional ones back yet and I couldn’t wait that long to share. Hope you don’t mind.
PPS I am going to take a break from wedding posting, but I will be back next week with the reception and honeymoon!

  1. We thought we were going to have to move ours inside to at the the last minute. It was POURING. BUT, luckily there was a structure covering most of the site so nothing was too wet and it stopped raining just long enough to do the ceremony and pictures!

  2. You made such a stunning bride!! And it sure doesn’t hurt that you look blissfully happy. I’m having an outdoor (cross your fingers) ceremony too. I’m glad to hear your story turned out just as you had hoped even though it wasn’t as you imagined. So happy for you!

  3. oh man. straight up tears when i saw the shot of your parents walking you down the aisle. you can literally see how proud your mama is and all of the emotion in your dad’s eyes. the day is never exactly what you expect…but it looks like yours was beautiful — ALMOST as beautiful as you were!!! congrats, alex! oxox

  4. You look absolutely beautiful Alex!! Despite the cold temps I am sure that your wedding (under the tent) was just as beautiful!! It rained the whole day of my wedding and cleared up right before the ceremony so I kind of went through the same thing! But at the end of the day we were married and everything was still perfect as could be!

  5. Ugh I am just loving your posts this week. Ok I love that the officiant was a friend and personalized it so much. Our ceremony was pretty generic but obviously the outcome was pretty special. I am so sorry that the weather did not cooperate. I would have been so upset too but like you said, what matters is that y’all got married and obviously you both look elated!! I am just so happy for y’all. Oh and I just can’t get over your dress. SO STUNNING! xoxoxo
