Your Favorites: Luella & June

Today I am HONORED to be sharing one of the most gorgeous homes I’ve seen yet! Bradley of the amazing blog, Luella & June is sharing her abode with us TTS readers today, and wow, we are in for a treat. I’m pretty sure this is the kind of girly home every girl dreams of. On top of this stunning home, Bradley has got some serious style. If for some crazy reason you haven’t seen her blog, go, run, look immediately (after reading this post).

Favorite Piece of Furniture:

The
couch in my living room is probably my very favorite. This couch has
had so many lives. My mom originally found it on the curb at a garage
sale. She purchased it for nearly nothing and recovered it in a cheetah
print (we like to refer to it as a “cheetah nightmare” now) for our
playroom growing up. When I moved out I took it with me, and Beth Dotolo
of Pulp Design Studios recovered it in this beautiful gray fabric
finished off with a white vinyl lining. It’s a pull-out couch, too, so
it’s very functional. This couch has come a long way, hasn’t it? It’s a
great reminder that there are some serious treasures lurking at those
garage sales!

Favorite Piece of Art:
My favorite pieces of art
are these Prada Marfa photographs. The installation is definitely
something to see if you’re ever in Marfa, Texas. Not only are these
photographs special because they were taken in my home state, but the
photographer, Gray Malin, and I went to high school together. (These
just came back from the framer which explains why they haven’t been hung
yet! I’m living with them for a little while before I figure out just
the right place for them.)
Favorite Textile:
This is the easiest question so
far. The vintage Pucci print in my living room! I found this fabric
while browsing through a vintage store in Dallas with my mother. This is
actually the fabric that was used to make the Braniff Airline flight
attendant uniforms in the late 1960′s. The owner had the leftover
spools, and I bought them right on the spot. I’ve always been a Pucci
devotee, but the story behind this fabric makes it that much better.

Favorite Room:
This is my
bedroom. It’s very “me,” and it holds all of my favorite things. It’s a
great space and offers lots of natural light. The walls are bright white
(I think white walls looks so fresh) accented by plenty of color. I
really love coming home to this cozy little room.

Favorite Misc. Item:
I couldn’t pick just one
here, so you’re getting my favorite two. I found this pair of lamps
(which sit in my living room) at a thrift store in Austin, Texas. It was
love at first sight with these. All they needed was a good cleaning and
new lampshades. The turquoise and gold combination remind me of Waylande Gregory’s designs. I think these might be one of my best thrift store finds to date.

My second favorite is this little heart chair. My mom got it for me
in college. It’s teeny, but really the perfect size for the corner of
my bedroom. I don’t sit in it very often, but the heart-shaped back
makes me think of my mom every time I look at it.

Today we have the amazing Amber, from Amber Interior Design. I am so excited to share her favorites from her home. They are absolutely gorgeous (just as you would expect).

Hi Things That Sparkle Readers. Here are a list of some of my Favorites in my home!

Favorite Room:

This is my Bedroom. I would say this is my favorite place in my home because of what it means to me….SLEEP AND QUIET!  Even though on most days my bedroom is neither Quiet or is anyone sleeping, I would like to pretend I have restful nights.

My Favorite Textile:

My favorite textile would probably have to be my latest Suzani purchase! It has a bright orange background and I am absolutely smitten with it’s colors and pattern! I feel like it adds life to every thing in the whole room. It always amazes me what a little color can do to liven and change things up.

The Duck and I have always saved a little money in our budget to allow for artwork. I have been a serious fan of the artist Audrey Kawasaki’s work for years. I always admired her attention to detail and how beautiful her paintings are. When the Duck and I moved in together almost 7 years ago, it was one of the first “big” purchases we ever made as a couple. You must go check out her website…you’ll be blown away.

Favorite Piece of Furniture:
I have to honestly say I don’t have a favorite item however I do have a great love for my dining table. I love it for many reasons but mainly because it’s 112″ long and already ruined looking so when we have my huge family over for occasions such as Sunday dinners or Holiday’s we can’t see spilled wine or food particles. I never have to wipe it down, I just kinda rub the grime in and it adds character…really not hygienic….but Oh well!

My favorite Miscellaneous Item:
I have a lot actually. One of my newest favorite object obsessions though is this wacky African leather and wooden Bucket chair. It is so wrong but so right I can’t quite figure out what the heck I should do with it. It is sort of serving as a place to put on shoes in my bedroom temporarily…but I have big plans for it. I think??

Thanks again Alex for having me over to your Bloggy Today. Hope you sparkly readers enjoy!
