Your Favorites: Moth Design

Time for a guest post!!! Today, we have Erica from one of my very favorite blogs, Moth Design . When I first started reading blogs, hers was one of the first I fell in love with. Her house is absolutely stunning and I am so excited to share little tidbits of it with you today! And… just a fun little fact I only learned this weekend, Erica used to work with Sarah Richardson! How fun!?

Favorite Room

I realized I’m rather lucky to have several rooms that I love in my home. However, to narrow it down, my outdoor house is my favorite. I love the way the cedar ceiling gently scents the space and the bit of respite the room provides away from my 5 boys. It’s a little cottage retreat in my own yard… of course I love it!

Favorite Textile

This image sums up a balance of what I like best… grass cloth, highly textural, combined with the softest of soft textiles, sateen sheets and a yummy woolen area rug underfoot. Perfection! (note: this is not Erica’s room, just embodies her favorite textiles)

Favorite Piece of Furniture

This chair takes it’s place in the corner of my bedroom by the fireplace.

It’s become a cherished place to curl up and read on quiet, cold winter evenings.

Favorite Artwork

Some of the art I love best is by Canadian artist, Sharon Barr, who’s work is available at Canvas Gallery. Canvas is by far my very favorite place in the world to purchase art. Their collection is phenomenal, the staff are amazing AND they ship! (find them here) At 72″ x 36″, this is a larger scale work titled Magnolia. I love the feeling it evokes of freshness and spring with just the right balance of contrast in the darker branches. I also love that this piece has an entirely different feel from the other pieces of hers that I own.

Favorite Object

My favorite object was again a toss up; I have many silly little treasures, but I always come back to this polished nickel moroccan lantern. I bought this on a trip to Atlanta, Georgia and had to convince the staff to sell it to me as it was installed. I absolutely love the way it throws fragments of light around the foyer in the evening.

Your Favorites: Look Linger Love

Well its been exactly a month since my last guest series, so now its time to introduce you to another one of my absolute favorite reads, Look Linger Love. Chassity had the amazing opportunity to design her house from scratch! So here it is… her favorites!
************************************
Hello Sparkly readers! I’m so excited to be here today sharing some of my favorite things. Things That Sparkle is one of my favorite blog reads, and Alex is one of my favorite bloggie friends. So when Alex asked me to contribute to her fun series I was honored, and then was quickly racking my brain. I have so many things that I love in my home. Here are just a few of the things make me smile on a daily basis.

Favorite Room:

My kitchen is easily my favorite room in my home, which is a good thing because this is where much of my day is spent. We built our home so I was lucky to design every last detail (a headache to many but so much fun to me!). I’m a sucker for grey tones, so my whole home is comprised of shades of grey and white. If I had to narrow it down to a couple of my kitchen favorites, I would say that I most love the charcoal painted ceiling and the marble brick tile backsplash by Saltillo.

Favorite Piece of Furniture:

This was also a really easy decision. My Luccia sofa by Cisco Brothers is hands down my favorite piece of furniture (purchased from Dwelling). While it was a splurge, the craftsmanship, comfort, and beauty of this sofa has easily made it a must have. We have two sofas in our family room, yet on many nights you’ll find my husband and me snuggled up together on it thanks to it’s extra deep and roomy seat.

Favorite Textile:

I had a little more trouble deciding what to share for my favorite textile. I love everything in my home, but textile wise there aren’t any real obvious standouts. But I do think that this Damask Tibetan rug from Restoration Hardware in my entry hall sets the right mood for the rest of my home.

Favorite Piece of Art:

At our wedding 4 years ago we commissioned artist Danny McLaughlin to capture our reception as it unfolded. Today we have this beautiful painting hanging in our dining room as a reminder of that amazing day with all of our friends an family.

Favorite Miscellaneous Item:

I had a hard time deciding what to share here as there are so many things in my home that I love. But considering that this chandelier (purchased from Carolina Lanterns) was probably the first purchase my husband and I made for our home I think it’s fitting to include it. It hangs above our dining table and adds a glamorous feel to the room.

Thanks so much for having me today Alex. I hope you enjoyed the brief tour of some of my favorite things in my home.

XOXO,

Chassity
