Styling: A Fresh Perspective

Someone commented on my post yesterday on how bloggers all have the same stuff. BARF, its so true. I am currently cleaning out the following items from my house right now (kidding but not really)
- python tray
- domino book
- brass urchin
- diptyque candle (but I love it… so maybe not)
- antlers
- agate coaster

So here is the deal. It really does bother me that these items are identified as “blogger must haves” not because there’s anything wrong with it, but because I want my home to be a genuine reflection of us and not what I see on pinterest everyday. I decorate spaces for myself. 100%. I never feel like a space I complete is one I’ve seen before. But when it comes to styling, I find it a little bit harder to deviate. I love the stacks of books everywhere, the trays littered with candles and stray baubles and random organic objects.
So here is some styling that offers a totally fresh perspective

Organic, filled with animals and succulents. I love this look of a greenhouse for a console.

JK Palace
I love the symmetry and sculptural aspect to this. Would be fabulous replicated just about anywhere.
Audrey‘s Home
I love how the overflowing plant accents every single, otherwise, monochromatic shelf.
How do you style your house? Do you fall into my “blogger” category or do you have some new tricks to share?

Vignettes

Most of you have seen pictures of my home here, but what I sometimes forget is that my home is constantly evolving. So today I wanted to show some updated vignettes around our little home.

A black and white gallery wall in our hall

A empty candle filled with my makeup

A new Archipelago candle in our powder room.

The most most gorgeous painting that we received as a wedding gift.

I can’t bring myself to put away all of the holiday decorations so I’m making the ornaments last on our coffee table.

A new agate coaster, also a wedding present.

Collecting our place cards from weddings (this one is from ours) in this little crystal bowl
(inspired by Miss Shannon )

More heavenly candles.
So there you have it. Our home as of late. How do you update your home to keep it fresh? Accessories always feel like an easy quick fix for me.
