I love dressing for the cold weather. One of my very favorite outfits is a dress, tights and boots, but I  always hated actually wearing the tights. They pinched my belly and always gave me a stomach ache, I sucked it up and tried a variety of different kinds always feeling like this was what it was like to wear tights. Couldn’t have been more wrong. Enter “Commando”. You might be familiar with their underwear (they don’t leave any lines) but now they make tights. They are perfection. There is a big thick band at the top that lays perfectly on your stomach. Flattening a tiny bit without doing any sucking in. You barely notice they are there they are so comfortable. 

They come in opaque (in a variety of colors), sheer, polka dotted, patterned and a lot more.

I just want to make this very clear, I was not paid or given anything for this post. All feelings are 100% my own. Me + Commando tights = Soulmates, and I just needed to share the wealth.

Some exciting things are in store for my little apartment and they have given me the opportunity to restyle a couple things. My favorite. Here’s the problem. It also happens to entail quite a bit of monies. Silly monies.

 brass mouse because I call my little pup “mouse face”,

Today I am so very honored to sharing a sneak peek of the much awaited…

Everyone is familiar with Mackenzie Horan, the talent behind the Design Darling blog, but what you might not know is her business background. 

The girl has made some SERIOUS rounds with my dream jobs working for Rue Magazine and Jonathan Adler. Yup! I’d say this girl has had access to some of the most gorgeous homes in the country!

And now Mackenzie is preparing to open an e-boutique so we can all have access to her goodies. Everything will be in keeping with Mackenzie’s preppy, fun aesthetic we are accustomed to seeing on her blog. There will be a tightly edited assortment of colorful accessories and decor, including acrylic desk accessories, color-block clutches, throw pillows, and more

Valentine’s Day is not one of those holidays where I have a picture of Spencer and I from every year, but we do like to go out to a special little dinner. When we first graduated from college and moved back to Chicago, we didn’t realize that Valentine’s Day was a seriously big deal at restaurants. So a week before, Spencer tried to make reservations at about every restaurant in the entire city and we couldn’t get in anywhere. We both had roommates so cooking at home wasn’t the most romantic option. I just figured we’d have to celebrate the day before or the day after, until my roommate offered up her sister’s reservation, she had decided to stay home and before cancelling offered it up to us..  Neither of us eat sushi, but we took the reservation. Needless to say I was a bit of a brat about celebrating at a restaurant where they served food we didn’t eat.

Well, we got there and were completely surprised. The atmosphere was great, and the non-sushi menu was incredible. Turned out to be one of our very favorite meals we’ve ever had. So in honor of that night, we have gone there for every Valentine’s Day since. Its a tradition that I look forward to every single February.

Although this restaurant isn’t the most fancy, I love dressing up for Valentine’s Day. It gives you a perfect excuse for a new dress and a pretty outfit. So this year, I’d like to be wearing this:

dress, watch, shoes, clutch, studs

The shoes are girly and soft, whereas the rose gold watch gives it some edge. Love the entire look! And so looking forward to our dinner.

I didn’t want to do this… but I am kind of nice. So I will…

This morning, I am lining up outside of the Jayson Home & Garden warehouse sale. I want you to come because its AMAZING, but I don’t, so we can stay friends and not get into a physical argument over my sofa. It will be mine.

ENJOY!! Seriously go. I went last year. It is a slice of heaven. Chaotic, insane heaven.

I am sort of obsessed with pastels right now. The problem is they aren’t necessarily fitting for fall.

But these icy colors

and these more saturated hues

have me dreaming of a winter vacation to somewhere perfectly tropical… and a serious pastel shopping spree.

And a secret…In a couple weeks, we have our engagement shoot! I absolutely cannot wait. And this is my outfit inspiration.

I want to do a clothing change but I’m not sure what it should be. A dress maybe? Need classic pieces that I won’t look back and think are trendy. And ideally… pieces I own.

Today I am obsessed with going to Paris this fall. Yes I am still obsessed with it.

 And today I am in love with this perfect knit cape with gold buttons. I seriously need this. Especially if I am going to be in Paris. I meannnn come on, someone take me!
