Here’s the thing. There is nothing more perfect than a chandelier over a dining room table. Light fixtures are truly my weakness. Sadly, my dining space is definitely not the ideal space for one such chandy. Instead of trying to make this decision with the boy (worst sounding board ever when it comes to lighting), I am taking it to you dearest readers.

So here it is…. my dining space. I live in a completely open plan apartment. Kitchen, dining and living is all one big momma room.

A light fixture above the table could do one of two things:
1. help define the space
2. be totally floaty and weird

Why is it that I have so much difficulty with my own space and not anyone elses? Hmmm. Designer’s problem for sure. Anyways, I have to be careful with the light fixture I choose (if I choose one) because I wouldn’t want it to block my painting. So this definitely limits my choices.

No chandelier. Put a pretty light fixture somewhere else.

Now I am really concerned they are going to totally block my beloved painting… OY.

The table! How perfect does my painting look with this setting? They were made for each other. Love my PartyPoms.

A little closer… ahhh the flowers aren’t centered. Its killing me.

White CB2 plates, black floral dessert plates from Anthro pologie. And no that isnt a jail cell on the top left, its the staircase up to our roof.

A little floral arrangement I put together. Didn’t like how you could see the stems through the vase so I wrapped it in some ribbon. Love the way it turned out. And yes, I filled champagne glasses with pink M&Ms.


And even though I kicked my special man friend out of the house for the night, he still brought me these gorgeous flowers. I really heart him. Ohh, and you get a little peak at my little cake stand that I originally saw in Rue


And last but not least, some of the ladies who made this night so amazing. I am obsessed with your faces. Except mine. Why did I not get the “smile-like-a-human” memo?? (Dear MJ, Are you happy you have now been featured?!)

Hope you enjoyed the peak! We had so much fun. I plan on doing this every single year from here on out. Such a great excuse for a dinner party.
